Fake Media with Matiu Herman

Today we learnt about fake media and how to tell what's fake and what to do if it is fake. Fake media can sometimes be scams or photoshops pictures or fake videos that have been edited. Here's what I made to show what fake media can be:

Culture Animation

For the past few weeks I have been working on a animation about culture. I did it with 2 other friends. In the animations there are special places to my friends and I.

 Animation

Today me and two other friends made an animation on google slides about our culture. Before that we had to make a sentence about culture.I learnt how to use headings on google docs.

This was my sentence: Culture is your family and identity, everyone has different cultures, traditions and accents. Your ancestors are a big part of your culture, friends and family.

This was our animation on google slides:

Fun At Te Poho-o-Rawiri Marae

Last week on Thursday and Friday Nui Syndicate went to Te Poho-o-Rawiri Marae. There was a powhiri to welcome us. The Tangata Whenua-Papa Albie, Aunty Buba and Aunty Charlotte-welcomed us onto the Marae. They taught us their Pepeha:
Ko Titirangi te maunga
Ko Turanganui te awa
Ko Horouta te waka
Ko Te Poho-o-Rawiri te marae
Ko Ngati Oneone te iwi

After the Powhiri we went out and had morning tea then went into our rotation activities. The first thing that my group did was learn moari patterns such as the koru and mania. Then we moved onto Honga with Koka Ngaire.
In the Honga you have a small cabbage tree trunk and you get a buddy then put it against each others forheads and you do all sorts of challenges with it. But then our group had to walk up kaiti hill....
It was quite tireing walking up but we made it. We had a small lunch brake after the kaiti hill walk then had a play. Then we had vegetarian nachos for dinner and they were Tu Meke!! Next we had to get our beds set up and then have some chill time.

A kapa haka presentation was what was next for the adults and
parents of what we had learnt so far:

In the morning we had to run up and down the court because people were wakeing up early and talking. We had a play after that and then had breakfast. After breakfast we packed up the wharenui to welcome the wai syndicate. While we were waiting Aunty Buba talk us a song called Muma Panda, it's about how the Nanis make the bread in the morning and at night for breakfast and dinner. We sang Haere Mai A Paoa when we welcomed wai. We went through all the rotations again and had another play. Overall it was really fun and I am SO happy we went!!

Aurora Leadership Course

A few weeks ago on Tuesday, Hazel and I went on a leadership course with Aurora. The teachers that take this are Rebbeca Trafford and Matua Fergus. We have gone on a few courses before this and they were really fun and so was this one.

When we go there we learn how to be better leaders and every year they fundraise and this year we are fundraising for J4J(Jammies 4 June) and I think barnados. Jammies for june is a business that helps families that have no clothes or jammies. Barnados is a business that helps homeless kids that have no homes.

Digital Art

For about 3 weeks we have been working on our digital art. For our digital art we had to draw around the our photo using the polyline in Google Drawings. This is what the eye is like:
It looks really cool once you've completed it. I really enjoyed making this. It took a lot of time and effort but it was definitely worth it. Here's a picture of it when it is finished:

It was really fun and I hope you liked my post!

Ko Hamanatua Te Awa

Hamanatua is our school Awa. We are the Kaitiaki of Hamanatua, which means we take care of it and look after it. We go here at least twice a term. This time when we went there we did weeding and moving the mulch around so it's in a ring around the plant. I was working down underneath the bridge with my pod Hunter, Ziggy and I, and there was another pod as well but I forgot their names. There were 2 other people, Jamai and Taj, they started helping us when we were up to about half way. We were down there from about 9:30 till 12:00 maybe. We had lots of fun and almost fell in the stream from trying to pull plants out.

Animation!

We started doing animations with Koka Rachel. It was really fun making animations because you thought of something you do everyday or what you think of everyday. Here is mine:

Look Book 2018!

Over the past week our class has been working on our look books for our students conversations. It was really cool showing my work this year to my Mum because I was really proud of what I've done this year and the learning was really exciting. The work we had to do in buddies was really fun and challenging especially in the maths pods.

Nikaus 3 Stars and a Wish!

Yesterday and Today in our class we did a Term 2 learning reflection. It had all these questions we had to answer about our learning. We had questions like this: How much did you know about science before you started? We did this so our teachers would know how we think about our learning and what we need to do more.
